LISE Legal Language Interoperability Services

LISE is a collaboration project between the University of Vienna, CrossLang, ESTeam AB, Accademia Europea Bolzano and the Parlamentsdirektion Austrian Parliament, and is supported by the EU Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme.

LISE makes it possible to enable data owners in public administrations to manage their terminological data without the help of external expertise of database experts, terminology specialists on the inter-institutional, interdisciplinary, and multilingual level of work. The impact of this step forward of implementing an enabling methodology based on well-established and highly robust technology is important as it significantly reduces time and cost otherwise to be invested by data owners to improve the quality and consistency of their data and to get rid of legacy data.

LISE has two main goals:
1) Researching and understanding best practices in inter-institutional terminology work and harmonization.
2) Developing and establishing a terminology service platform to support inter-institutional terminology collaboration and automate related processes.

ESTeam brings in its unique technologies to compare and match terminologies from different sources, to highlight inconsistencies, to report on the amount of required changes and to trigger discussions amongst user groups.

While LISE is focusing on the administrative domain, its results are very easily adaptable to other domains.
